Holy Qurbono on every Second Saturday 10:00 am

St. Mary’s Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church Herne is the first-ever Malankara Syriac Orthodox Parish in Germany. The beginning of St. Mary’s Jacobite Church, Herne traces back to the Apostolic visit of His Beatitude Aboon Mor Baseliose Thomas-I Catholicos of India to Germany during November 2004. Bava was accompanied by the diocesan metropolitan HG. Dr. Kuriakose Mor Theophilose and V.Rev. Fr. Dr. Adai Jacob corepiscopa. On 20 November 2004 Bava celebrated H. Qurbana in the Syriac Orthodox Church, Herne and declared St. Mary’s Malankara Syriac Orthodox Parish for the Syriac Orthodox believers from India in Germany. Since then, Fr. Dr. Thomas Jacob Manimala serves as its Vicar. There are about twenty families as its members.

We remember with gratitude the great initiatives undertaken by late Rev. Fr. Dr. Biji Chirathalattu for the establishment of this Parish. Also, we are greatly indebted to V.Rev. Samuel Gumus Cor-Episcopa for his continuing support from the very beginning.
