In 2021, a few students from Kerala who came to Hannover, Bremen and environs for securing higher studies, showed their passion and aspiration to have a community to worship and pray in their tradition and language. They contacted the priests in the diocese and discussed about the possibility to worship together in Malayalam. Subsequently, by the grace of our Lord and by the blessing and permission of His Eminence Mor Theophilose Kuriakose, Diocesan Metropolitan and Patriarchal Vicar of Europe (except UK & Ireland), of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church we sought the potential to initiated the Congregation. His Eminence assigned, Rev. Fr. Paul Punnackal George to organise the community and to find a church to gather. Rev. Fr. Paul along with Rev. Dn. Renju Kurian and Mr. Subin Thomas contacted Rev. Dn. Moses Tan, organiser and teacher of the Syriac Orthodox Congregation Hannover, to seek the possibility of finding a church for worship, and Rev. Dn. Moses, oraganised the Heilig Geist Kirche, Niggemannweg 18, 30659 Hannover for us.

We conducted our first unofficial online gathering on 19th December 2021 presided by Rev. Fr. Paul and fixed a date for Holy Kurobo and the members also showed their interest in participating in the online Carol event organised by the Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church Europe (MSOCE) Council. On January 7, 2022, His Eminence Mor Theophilose Kuriakose gave permission to begin the congregation and named it as St. Peter’s Malankara Syrian Orthodox Congregation and appointed Rev. Fr. Paul Punnackal George as the vicar of the congregation. Thus, by God’s bountiful mercy we conducted our first Holy Eucharist in Heilig Geist Kirche, Niggemannweg 18,30659 Hannover on 9th January 2022. The support of Rev. Dn. Moses, Rev. Dn. Renju, Mr. Subin Thomas and the committee members and acolytes of St. George Malankara Syriac Orthodox Congregation, Frankfurt and all our Suryoye people for the first Holy Kurbono is unforgettable and priceless. And now we have Holy Eucharist celebration in every alternative months.
